Overview

Inabia is seeking a Senior Network Test Engineer based in the United Kingdom to lead end-to-end network verification, performance testing, troubleshooting, and validation across cellular, WiFi, broadband, IP networking, and cloud-connected environments. This role requires a hands-on engineer with deep expertise in IP networking, AWS cloud connectivity, DevOps practices, and test automation. The successful candidate will configure and manage test environments, execute functional and performance testing, analyze network traffic and logs, identify root causes, and produce comprehensive test and verification reports.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute network verification and validation testing across telecom, broadband, WiFi, and IP-based network environments
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, interoperability, performance, stability, and end-to-end network testing
  • Validate network performance including throughput, latency, jitter, packet loss, availability, failover, and service continuity
  • Configure and troubleshoot IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, routing, VPNs, firewalls, and LAN/WAN connectivity
  • Configure enterprise IP environments involving routers, switches, access points, gateways, VPN endpoints, servers, and test clients
  • Test WiFi and broadband connectivity, including gateways, routers, CPE devices, access points, and network performance
  • Support cellular network testing involving LTE/4G, 5G NSA/SA, mobility, handovers, registration, throughput, and service performance
  • Capture and analyze network traffic using Wireshark, tcpdump, iPerf, and related packet, protocol, and performance-analysis tools
  • Troubleshoot network issues across Layer 2 through Layer 7, identifying whether failures originate from configuration, transport, routing, applications, cloud services, or network infrastructure
  • Build, configure, operate, and maintain repeatable network test environments and testbeds
  • Create comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, verification procedures, defect reports, RCA documentation, and final test reports
  • Work with engineering, development, network operations, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to reproduce and resolve defects
  • Support testing of network services and applications deployed within AWS environments
  • Validate connectivity between enterprise, telecom, lab, and cloud environments, including hybrid on-premises-to-AWS network paths
  • Analyze connectivity, latency, routing, DNS, firewall, and access-control issues within cloud-connected test environments
  • Work within CI/CD-driven test and verification environments
  • Use Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages for test execution, log processing, configuration, and automation
  • Integrate network verification activities into automated development and release processes where appropriate
  • Develop verification strategies based on network and system requirements
  • Translate technical requirements into measurable test cases, acceptance criteria, and performance benchmarks
  • Execute positive, negative, boundary, failover, resiliency, and performance testing
  • Verify network configuration changes, firmware and software releases, and infrastructure updates before production deployment
  • Perform regression testing following network or software changes
  • Document defects with sufficient logs, packet captures, reproduction steps, and technical evidence for engineering teams
  • Track defects through investigation, remediation, retesting, and closure

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of network testing, network verification, telecommunications testing, or network engineering experience
  • Strong practical knowledge of TCP/IP networking and Layer 2/Layer 3 concepts
  • Hands-on experience with IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, VLANs, routing, DHCP, DNS, NAT, VPNs, and firewall concepts
  • Demonstrated experience performing network performance testing, including throughput, latency, jitter, and packet-loss analysis
  • Strong experience with Wireshark and packet-level troubleshooting
  • Experience building, configuring, and maintaining network test environments and testbeds
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, regression tests, and verification procedures
  • Ability to perform structured root-cause analysis across network, infrastructure, and application layers
  • Strong technical reporting and documentation skills
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing LTE/5G, WiFi, broadband, CPE, or telecommunications networks
  • AWS networking experience involving VPCs, subnets, security groups, route tables, VPNs, and load balancers
  • DevOps or CI/CD experience using Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
  • Python or Bash scripting experience for test automation and log processing
  • Docker and/or Kubernetes exposure
  • Experience with iPerf, tcpdump, traceroute, ping, Nmap, SNMP, syslog, network monitoring, or traffic-generation tools
  • Experience with telecom test platforms such as QXDM/QCAT, TEMS, XCAL, Actix, Keysight, or Spirent
  • Familiarity with VoIP, SIP, RTP, IMS, VoLTE, or VoWiFi
  • Experience working within telecom operators, ISPs, network equipment vendors, or enterprise network environments
