  • Compensation: $60–$65 per hour
  • Schedule: Standard business hours

Position Overview

Inabia Solutions & Consulting Inc. is seeking an experienced NOC Network Support Engineer to support a client’s production broadband network and services following service launch.

This hands-on role combines network monitoring, incident response, and advanced troubleshooting across broadband access, aggregation, transport, routing, IP services, and customer connectivity. You will identify service-impacting issues, isolate faults, restore service, and drive incidents through resolution. This role will also work closely with NOC personnel, network engineering, operations, service assurance, and equipment vendors to maintain network availability and improve service reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Network Monitoring and Service Assurance

•Monitor network alarms, dashboards, logs, and telemetry to identify outages, service degradation, and performance issues.

•Validate alerts, assess customer impact, prioritize incidents, and initiate the appropriate response.

•Correlate customer-reported issues with network events, infrastructure faults, and recent changes.

•Identify recurring alarms, monitoring gaps, and performance trends; recommend improvements to alerting and operational procedures.

Broadband and Network Troubleshooting

•Troubleshoot customer connectivity, packet loss, latency, routing, reachability, and service performance issues.

•Isolate faults across customer-premises equipment, access, aggregation, transport, IP, and service layers.

•Investigate Layer 2 issues involving Ethernet, VLANs, QinQ, ARP, MAC learning, and STP.

•Troubleshoot Layer 3 and IP service issues involving IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, VRFs, routing policies, DHCP, DNS, NAT/CGNAT, and QoS.

•Investigate subscriber connectivity issues involving IP address assignment, authentication, RADIUS/AAA, and internet access, as applicable to the network architecture.

•Use device CLI, Wireshark/tcpdump, logs, interface counters, routing tables, and telemetry to trace packet flows and identify the fault domain.

•Validate recovery through network-path testing, service checks, and confirmation of customer connectivity.

Incident and Problem Management

•Own assigned incidents from initial investigation through service restoration and closure.

•Maintain accurate tickets documenting impact, troubleshooting steps, findings, actions, and resolution.

•Provide timely status updates and clear technical handoffs to operational stakeholders and supporting teams.

•Engage engineering teams and vendors when needed, remaining involved through resolution.

•Follow established incident priorities, escalation procedures, and service-level targets.

•Support root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews for recurring or high-impact issues.

•Create and maintain troubleshooting procedures, runbooks, and known-error documentation.

Network Operations and Change Support

•Support routers, switches, broadband access equipment, aggregation devices, and supporting IP infrastructure.

•Collaborate with engineering teams on approved configuration changes, software upgrades, migrations, and service launches.

•Perform pre-change and post-change checks, investigate unexpected behavior, and support approved rollback procedures when necessary.

•Work with vendors to resolve hardware, software, protocol, and interoperability issues.

•Recommend operational improvements based on production incidents and recurring support needs.

Required Qualifications

•Strong hands-on experience supporting and troubleshooting production Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks.

•Working knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, ARP, DHCP, DNS, IPv4/IPv6, and routing.

•Experience troubleshooting BGP and OSPF and/or IS-IS.

•Experience with VRFs, routing policies, NAT/CGNAT, QoS, and IP service delivery.

•Ability to use network device CLI to investigate configurations and operational state.

•Experience with packet capture and analysis using Wireshark, tcpdump, or equivalent tools.

•Ability to interpret alarms, logs, interface statistics, routing tables, and network telemetry.

•Ability to distinguish customer-device issues from access, transport, routing, and application/service issues.

•Experience managing production incidents, coordinating escalations, and documenting technical findings.

•Clear communication skills and the ability to work across technical teams during service-impacting incidents.

•Availability to work onsite in Seattle, WA, five days per week during standard business

hours.

Preferred Qualifications

•Five or more years of experience in network engineering, network operations, NOC support, or technical support.

•Experience supporting large-scale broadband or service-provider networks.

•Familiarity with fiber/FTTH, GPON/XGS-PON, and OLT/ONT troubleshooting.

•Experience with BNG/BRAS, broadband subscriber management, RADIUS/AAA, and IPv6 dual-stack services.

•Familiarity with MPLS or Segment Routing.

•Experience troubleshooting multi-vendor network environments.

•Experience with network monitoring, observability, and service assurance platforms.

•Python, Ansible, or similar scripting and automation experience.

•Networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or JNCIP, or equivalent practical experience.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
