Overview

Inabia is seeking an experienced ADMS System Engineer to own the full technology lifecycle of Advanced Distribution Management Systems in electric utility operations. This is a contracted role based in South Plainfield, NJ, available as either a fully onsite arrangement (5 days/week) or a hybrid arrangement (3 days onsite, 2 days remote); fully remote is not available. The engineer will be responsible for the design, configuration, development, testing, deployment, upgrading, troubleshooting, and ongoing production support of ADMS software, hardware, and integrated systems supporting electric grid operations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze business requirements, operational workflows, and end-user needs; translate findings into technical solution designs, system configurations, and implementation plans.
  • Design, configure, develop, test, deploy, upgrade, and support ADMS solutions across development, test, and production environments.
  • Perform peer reviews of technical designs, implementation plans, configurations, code, and deployment artifacts.
  • Ensure solutions align with cybersecurity requirements and enterprise infrastructure standards.
  • Troubleshoot escalated production issues and perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA); recommend short-term workarounds and long-term corrective actions.
  • Monitor system performance and operational reports to ensure ADMS functionality meets service levels and reliability requirements.
  • Support deployment of new features, subsystems, modules, upgrades, patches, and defect fixes across all environments.
  • Perform log analysis, configuration validation, trace review, and recent-change verification.
  • Perform Windows and Linux workstation/server patching and command-line configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Interpret technical documentation including network topology diagrams, IP/LAN schemas, firewall configuration sheets, server architecture diagrams, and interface definitions.
  • Configure workstations, applications, servers, and system components as required.
  • Work with SCADA, OMS, GIS, DMS, Historian, ICCP, and enterprise data integrations to validate data accuracy, availability, and system connectivity.
  • Create and manage operational and analytical reports, including Power BI dashboards where applicable.
  • Work with virtualized environments and VMware vCenter for provisioning, monitoring, and maintaining system resources.
  • Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, operational processes, and knowledge-transfer materials.
  • Communicate effectively with system operators, project teams, cybersecurity teams, network teams, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist end users with system access, configuration questions, login issues, password resets, and feature requests.
  • Support application interface testing and integration activities.

Key Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience supporting, upgrading, and implementing ADMS in utility/electric grid operations environments.
  • Strong demonstrated experience with ADMS implementation and production support.
  • Experience with ADMS and Grid Operations Systems Integration.
  • Strong systems troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA, OMS, GIS, DMS, Historian, and ICCP systems.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems, including patching and command-line operations.
  • Experience with VMware/vCenter virtualized environments.
  • Working knowledge of IP/LAN networking and firewall configuration.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and enterprise infrastructure requirements.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder (W2 only); H1B candidates are not eligible.
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite in South Plainfield, NJ on a 5-day or 3-day hybrid schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and maintaining Power BI dashboards and operational reports.
  • Prior experience with application interface testing and cross-system integration validation.
  • Familiarity with enterprise change management and deployment documentation practices.
